READY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SOLAR POWER?
-
How does community solar benefit the local economy?Community solar gardens promote the development of local clean energy infrastructure, creating new job opportunities and economic benefits for the community. They also help to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, which can reduce the cost of energy for consumers in the long term.
-
What is a community solar garden?A community solar garden is a centrally-located solar photovoltaic (PV) system that supplies electricity to participating subscribers. It allows individuals who are unable to install solar panels on their own homes to benefit from solar energy.
-
What are the benefits of being a community solar garden subscriber? As a subscriber to a community solar garden, you can benefit from the lower cost of solar energy compared to traditional utility rates, while also supporting clean energy development in your community.
-
What is the cost of subscribing to a community solar garden? The cost of subscribing to a community solar garden varies depending on the size of the system and the amount of energy you need. Contact us for more information about pricing and availability.
-
How does a community solar garden work?Subscribers purchase a portion of the solar garden's output and receive credits on their electricity bills for the amount of energy produced by their share of the system. The electricity is fed into the grid and distributed to subscribers through their utility company.
-
Are there any incentives available to community solar garden subscribers?Yes, there are various state and federal tax credits and incentives available to community solar garden subscribers, which can help to offset the cost of installation and maintenance.
-
What happens if I move or sell my home? One of the benefits of community solar is that you don’t lose your value if you move. If the location you move to is still eligible (served by Xcel and in the same or a neighboring county as your solar garden), you can take your subscription with you and apply it to your electric bill at the new address (it will require a resize). If you leave the area and are no longer eligible, you can transfer your subscription to someone else or the co-op can do it for you.
